spring intuit: ART BREWT

a benefit for Intuit at Lagunitas Brewery

I sat on the Marketing Committee of spring intuit: ART BREWT, Intuit's annual spring fundraising event, inspired by late Chicago artist Henry Darger and the botanical beauty of spring. Our goal was to appeal Intuit to the younger tier of museum goers with a desire to support the art they love. For the art direction of our ticketing, marketing collateral and event program, I chose to utilize Intuit's archive of the contents of the artist's studio apartment. The room contains a huge chest with drawers full of torn out pages from 1930's coloring books, which the artist traced to fill up his 10 foot panoramic paintings. I found and collaged different combinations of the source material most suited to our spring event at Lagunitas Brewery.

The event program unfolded to an 11x17in poster on the backside: a montage of images from ~10 pages.

Poster we hung up in storefronts around West Town, with each poster accompanied by a hanging marker and an invitation to color in the flowers.

We printed these invitations in-house at the museum and hand cut each one to the actual shape of the perimeter of the torn out page for authenticity.

The event program, printed on old newsprint found in the basement of the museum.

We gave away temporary tattoos of some of the coloring book images from Henry Darger's source material.
